Collaborative Solutions for the Defence Sector
Modern Defence procurement processes require efficient supply chains backed by rigorous technical capabilities. In response to these demands, TEX GROUP has focused on maximising the synergy across its core engineering businesses. The group’s Engineering Division – comprising G&M EUROTEX, TEX ATC, and BSP-TEX (incorporating RM TRAILERS) – now operates with much closer design and production integration.
While each company retains its specialised focus, their combined capabilities allow the group to function as a unified resource for Defence contractors. This collaborative approach ensures that subcontract manufacturing projects, such as specialised equipment trailers, benefit from a shared pool of design intelligence, practical manufacturing expertise, and physical resources.
Key Operations Upgrades and Improvements
Over recent months, the group has implemented strategic changes to strengthen the division’s infrastructure and improve its overall delivery of engineering and manufacturing solutions to the Defence sector:
- RM TRAILERS Relocation: The operations of RM TRAILERS have been successfully integrated into the BSP-TEX manufacturing base in Great Blakenham, Suffolk. This combines RM TRAILERS’ 60-year heritage of supplying custom military trailers with the facility's existing heavy steel fabrication and precision light engineering teams.
- TEX ATC Structural Contributions: TEX ATC brings extensive experience from both naval and land-based Defence subcontracting sectors. The team heavily supports the initial development pipeline through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modelling, coordinates dynamic testing programs, and implements concurrent engineering workflows alongside agile project management to reduce lead times.
- Enhanced Manufacturing Capacity: The integration has significantly improved the Great Blakenham facility's workshop footprint. The site is now fully equipped with the space and machinery required for manufacturing and finishing larger structural items, scaling from standard under-5-tonne trailers up to larger configurations.
- Expanded Engineering Team: G&M EUROTEX has introduced new engineers to the division. Their specific credentials bolster the group’s technical design depth and expand its capacity to support complex engineering requirements across both marine and land operations.
- Defence Procurement Credentials: The group has consolidated its standing on critical Defence procurement matrices. The JOSCAR and Achilles network ensures the division meets all pre-qualification, compliance, and risk management baselines required by Defence buyers.
Design Proofing and Structural Integrity
To support the manufacturing pipeline, the division leverages an iterative development process. Project engineering begins with design development, where customer concepts are translated into production blueprints. Engineers utilise FEA during this initial stage to model structural behaviours, simulate load points, and identify stress areas before physical production.
Crucially, the ultimate validation of the design relies on physical testing rather than digital simulations. The division manages the production of exact prototypes, and when required, these are then routed to independent, third-party test houses for stringent validation procedures, including vibration and environmental testing. This process guarantees that the equipment meets every functional requirement before full-scale manufacturing.
